Texas Creek riding area is located on the Arkansas River in central Colorado. On the other side of the bridge is a full service gas station.
Though most trails here are suitable for vehicles as large as
Jeeps, some trails are only large enough for ATVs and Motorcycles, with
the trail from Reese Gulch to Table Mountain just wide enough for ATVs
Most of the trails circle around Table Mountain
which is easily visible from most places along the
trail.
There is enough trails here for a full day of riding.
However, I would not recommend planning to spend
more than one day here.
On the eastern side of Table Mountain the terrain is
mostly high fields with one area that is open and flat
enough for you to open your ATV all the way up.
On the western side of Table Mountain the terrain is
much different with many unique rock formations.
The trails here are more sandy than the eastern side.
This area is used for ranching as well as recreation.
There are a few gates across the trails. When you
open one be sure to shut it back.
There are many camping areas along the road to Texas
Creek. Camping is allowed at the riding area but it is
primitive. There is also camping in Canon City and at
the Royal Gorge Bridge.
