The best place to park for La Sal Pass is at the beginning of Pack Creek
Rd. This will require you to ride on the pave road for about 1
mile. Obey traffic laws and you should be ok, use this advice on
your own risk.
Starting the climb up La Sal Pass. Watch for other vehicles.
Notice how many trees there are as you climb, much different than the
desert below.
As you get higher you will start get to better views of where your are
going.
The higher you go the rougher the trail will become.
Get ready for one tough section of talus slope. It is just
tough enough to get your attention. There is a bypass
around this section if you head downhill into the woods.
The higher you go the colder it will get. It was in the
90s in Moab but we approached the top there was lots of snow and
perfect temperatures.
Lots of Aspens near the top. Can't decide if you want to
go to Moab or Colorado, well if you go to Moab you can have
both.
This picture was taken May and snow still completely blocked the
trail. We could not reach the top. FYI a CR250 will
not bust through a snow drift like the cars on TV.
Update, I road the trail a 2nd time in June of 2015 and the
trail was once again blocked within a few hundred yards of the
top. I think you could descend through the snow as there
were vehicles at the pass that had arrived from the other side
of the pass.
